Hi,

I'm looking at buying a house in Solihull that has a mooring on the Grand Union Canal.

Does this have a value, can I lease it out / is there any demand ?

Thanks

I live next to a canal and had a guy interested in paying £100 per month to moor up.
I am interested in this thread too, if anyone has any mo(o)re info that would be splendid.

This is a new mooring, no idea if its near you but gives an idea of prices.

These are serviced moorings with facilities onsite such as fuelling, gas, shop etc..

As you say, not the same thing. A wobbly jetty at the end of somebody's garden isn't a marina and isn't going to be worth anything like as much - plus you'll get the owners tramping through your garden (or house if terraced) on their way to and from their boat.

Mind you if I was in your position I might let them moor for free if I could borrow the boat now and again...

The answers of course depend, as ever, on location, location, location but I would have thought:

- yes
- possibly!
- yes, In some places they are like gold dust.

Worth looking in WH Smiff or similar for narrowboat mags.

Thanks for the replies.

Never knew there were narrow boat mags.

So could be around £2k a yr - not going to change your life but might pay for a holiday.
