'Backspace', 't' and 'y' Keys not working??
Discussion
Hi,
Laptop was working perfect, but then all of a sudden (after watching a video perhaps) these keys are not working. Have restarted a couple of times and started in safe mode, and nothing has made any difference. Not working in Firefox or Word/Wordpad. Laptop has had a fair bit of use, but I am curious as to why they would stop working all of a sudden and all at the same time?
Any ideas? Rather frustrating as you can imagine!
Cheers, Greg.

Multiplexing. To save connections all(most) keys are connected in a group. So 1 dataline may be shared by many keys.
For example:

Sounds like either there is a small tear in the keyboard membrane or connector. I suspect its the main keyboard. Have you knocked it or dropped it lately?
What make is it? As mentioned they are about £20 to £30 and not too hard to replace.

Cheers for the replies. I thought it might be like a fuse going on a car, knocking various things/keys
out in one go..
It's a Lenovo, coming upto 2.5 years old.
Many thanks,
Greg

I dont think I will try to repair it myself - just incase something goes wrong. I had been thinking about getting another laptop in the near future. May get this one fixed but have it as a backup..
Should the average 'Laptop Repairs' place be able to manage this?
Yes. Do a search and checkout the price of a keyboard for it first - Changing a keyboard is not that hard at all.Should the average 'Laptop Repairs' place be able to manage this?
I suspect you know but in the meantime you can plug in a standard USB keyboard and use that.
