What is the trick to setting up the handbrake on a 2500m? Everything I try either results in slight binding, or unacceptable handbrake efficiency... Im trying to get this thing to pass its MOT... Failed on the same thing last year.... I cant believe they are that badly designed?

I just cant understand why the adjuster on the back of the drums is a square peg..

Remove the cables at the lever arms..set the adjuster on the rear of the back plate...replace the clevis pin part of the cable support with a 5/16 UNF bolt (this is brazed on) at that point you get rid of the thackery washer and circlip on the cable support ...put the new cable support back on to the cable support bracket nipped up with a couple of plain washers each side and new nyloc....so that it can rotate..grease the cable well, and replace the pins in the lever arms with bolts and thackery washer with washers each side of the thackery and again new nyloc.
Once this is done for both sides adjust and set the cables in the middle of the car at the compensator.
