Will be getting a shiney new road bike soon, which will be worth a few grand. Quotes I've been getting from insurance companies have been more than my car insurance!

I've been getting quotes using contents insurance. Most companies seem to only want to cover bike <£1500, and those who will cover bikes for over this amount charge silly prices if you include cover for outside the home. Cheapest I've been getting is around £250.

Any recommendations or is this the general state of cycle insurance these days?

Ta!

I haven't used them, but Marks and Spencer home insurance apparently gives excellent cover for expensive bikes, I'm planning on getting a quote from them at renewal time.

Marks n Spencer - end of .

4k limit without any notification , and were superb at handling my claim of 17k without a quibble.
Alway interesting how people shop around for the best deal (naturally) but you only find out how good they are when the st hits the fan, we were unfortunate to find out - but I really can't praise them enough.

As above; M&S is the way to go.

Recently sorted me out to the tune of £2,800 without batting an eyelid.
