Hi, I am currently running a Arcam A80 amp that I purchased second hand to replace an old Cambridge Audio amp.

I only listen to music through a Cambridge Audio DACMagic from my PC playing lossless tracks. Currently I am useing a pair of Mordaunt Short 902's that are going to be put in my front room for home cinema use, so need some replacement bookshelf speakers.

My shortlist so far are

B&W 602 S3
B&W 601 S3
Epos 12i
Monitor Audio RS1

Are there any must not speakers to pair with an Arcam A80? Am I missing a speaker that should be on my list to look at?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Those Monitor Audios will sound the nicest IMO. I can't stand low-end B&Ws personally, no idea why people like them. Crashy, inaccurate sound with too much sloppy bass.

At the same price point I recently tried some Focal Chorus 705v2's which are excellent.

+1

Definately don't want BW on your Arcam, imo.
Monitors are a much better match. The RS1's are now RX1's- improved all round. If you want a floorstander and a fuller sound try getting a 2nd hand/ ex dem Monitor Audio RS6 pair. These are great at the price.

Sadly the way my desk is set up I cant use floorstanders. What I really want are the RX-2's, with the bigger midrange speaker, but they are a little out of budget at £500. Might wait for a bit for them.

If you can find them second hand, the Polk LSi7 Bookshelf Speakers are nice with the ARCAM...if you like decent portions of bass!

There were some for sale here at about £200.00...absolute bargain, because I think they are about £800.00 new!

For £200.00 new, the Monitor Audio Bronze BR2 must be worth a listen?
