hi all, i have a garmin 2810, its never had any updates for must be over 5 or more years, is it worth the bother or can i even get them now, or should i just buy a new system as the price of them has come down so much now. i payed £700 when it was new, and that was with £100 off in an offer.

You could check if it will take updates on Garmins website. I think it was late 06 when most countries in Europe got the full super detailed street level maps rather than just major roads, but then again if you pay the full price of Garmins update, it would go a very long way to buying you say a brand new version of last years Nuvi. In my opinion there is no point in buying the current year offering from Garmin considering the mega deals most places are now doing on last years 2008/9 model which would still be a mega jump from your version.

Tom, keep it safely and in twenty years time somebody will pay thousands for it. Just look at old video games consols and the cartridge games....some of these now sell for tens of thousands.

I used to run a Psion Series 5 with Palmtop Routeplanner and Streetplanner with a homemade serial cable to a Garmin GPS12 handheld.

Will this be worth anything?

hi i think you may be right, sounds like its best to just buy a new system. i did look up an update once and i think it was about £120, and all it was, was a few extra places of interest and more roads in somewhere like siberia.
