i was going to get a cannondale badboy 8 2010,but have since seen ellsworths 'the ride'and its retro looks appeal to me.plus it has a cvt hub.only down side is rear brake from what i can see.anyone have any experience of it?i can't find any decent reviews about it.

i'll only be using it for general riding to from pub, sunday use and on holidays etc.
opinions please on either.

Ugly, expensive, and rubbish riding position for anything more than a flat cruise along the seafront. Get the Cannondale.

What a great fun bike.
I had a play on a friends chopper / low rider style bike. It was the worst ride position in the world with your legs folded up under you and stretched out for the HUGE bars but it was fun and a real head turner. He used it to commute a few miles across town to his shop. Big spring saddle, it was just so much fun.

Give it a try!

to be honest its a bit of a comedy bike, it will look cool on south beach in miami but st anywhere in the UK.... good on htem for using the technology but its not the best application for the UK, for the one sunny day a year it will be fun, other than that i cant see it being much of a ride anywhere but the flat. even moderate climbs will be tough and in traffic it will be awkward.

the bad boy is far more useable and will easily retain more of its value..

People will think you are cool and retro- the first time they see you.

From then on you'll just be the weirdo with the oversize kids bike.

So invest in the Cannondale.

This kind of retro / low rider / chopper / schwinn bike is very popular around here. We have miles of promenade on the beach (Bournemouth) with easy flat riding between pubs and restaurants and they are a superb platform to people watch. You dont get bored of them, they are beautiful and some of the custom paint jobs are stunning.

If you like it, buy it!

ah well it's done now, picked up the badboy this morningbiggrin

the wheels are somewhat bigger than the ones on my old h/tail montain bike, felt like riding a pennyfarthing for a while, the alfine hub is smoother than i anticipated, and in this cold weather there is a small amount of drag due to the thick oil/grease i suspect.
tried to register with cannondale on their w/site but they want usa adress details. frown
is there a way to do it for uk adresses?

TIA
