Games that looked good but then turned out to be...

boring.
I nominate Left 4 dead. Looks great! I mean what could be more fun than running around shooting zombies? well, you would think that but after playing for 5 minutes I just started to get really bored with it.
It may have this 'director' for adaptive gameplay but to be honest if I have cleared a room why keep making them reappear?
Then you get the same special zombies. Oh look a boomer (again).
The world has no animation in it. Everything is dead (haha) but I mean nothing operates or plays. Cars are just left there doing nothing. I want to drive or fly or something.
So all you do is run around with your 'mates' shooting the same hoard over and over again
All in all a great idea on paper but gameplay I give it 2.
any others?

Too Human was a bit of a let down...
Beautiful fluid gameplay but everything else was clunky. Really hope they bring out a 2nd installment to smooth out the 1st one's shortcommings...
Street Fighter (The Xbox one)
It's biggest appeal also crippled it for me... You might as well just play it on a Nintendo. Nothing new... just flashy 3 Models... Looked great, gaming nirvana of the retro kind... but... meh, "I've played this before".

Gears of War series. Stunning graphics, but it's like playing a bloody lazerdisc game from the 80s.
Do you want to take the left path or the right? WTF - No I want to just wander down that path without having the flow of the game utterly ruined. I also want to be able to jump over a hand rail down into the areas below me - I'm a bloody supersoldier FFS, yet I'm stopped by a handrail

I gave up on L4D2 after about three minutes, I got so fed up with having to help my idiotic teammates and didn't have a clue what was supposed to be happening.
L4D2 is all about the multiplayer and coordinating a team of 4 real people, I only used single player to learn the maps and it's only really there so you have something to do if your internet is down. There are about 6 game modes and since 5 are online multiplayer that kind of tells you something about how it's expected to be played!Edited by xr287 on Monday 8th March 10:41

I loved the GoW games, they are very linnear but there's still a lot to enjoy. They're more tactical than simply running around like a madman, on Insane difficulty you really have to work hard to make progress.Do you want to take the left path or the right? Horde mode on GoW2 is one of my favourite games, superb.
I bought L4D recently as I usually wait for games to drop to budget price before I buy them, I'm finding it ok, but not nearly as good as I thought it would be.
