Wales in the summer - Any recommendations?
Discussion
Hi all,
The missus and I have decided rather than go on a summer holiday abroad, we are going to wait until December and go to New York. But in the meantime, I fancy going to Wales in the summer, August time, to a little cottage somewhere quite remote.
Now, the missus doesn't know this bit, but I know there are a few decent roads in Wales, and I wouldn't mind incorporating these into the trip - a scenic route if you like
So, does anyone have any recommendations for a good route and any nice little cottages along the way which we can spend a few nights in?

Hi, you would be hard pressed to beat the Island of Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast, which has some stunning variation in scenery, from long sandy beaches, to rugged cliffs, and then small fishing villages similar to those in Cornwall. If the weather is favourable, there is no better place to be, and there are plenty of things to do, covering so many interests from fishing, sailing, water sk-ing, archeology, horse riding, to just lounging on a beach. There are some good restaurants & bistros, good pubs, and one or two good hotels. There are plenty of cottages to rent, look at www.menaiholidays.co.uk to give you some idea of what's on offer. There is even a good race circuit there should you fancy watching cars or bikes!!The missus and I have decided rather than go on a summer holiday abroad, we are going to wait until December and go to New York. The drive up from the south would take you along the A5 through Snowdonia, again with some spectacular scenery, and excellent driving roads, although during the summer, they tend to be congested with tourists ambling along, with not a care in the world.
Hope this gives you something to work on, and feel free to ask should you require any further information. I know virtually every corner of the Island, and can advise where & where not to go.
regards, Howard
