Can I replace my BT home hub with a better device?
Discussion
Just wondering if my BT Broadband is reliant on the home hub? I find that it is not the best, it cuts out intermittently, sometimes I cant even connect to it and the range is not as good as BT will have you believe either. So if I can replace it, any recommendations for a new one? I don't want to pay a fortune for it, was thinking of around the £50 mark, perhaps more if necessary.
Thanks

Before spending any money, are you sure it's the hub? Sounds like you might be getting interference from another device (neighbours network?) due to to being on a similar channel (our flat's a nightmare for this - had to manually change channels until we found a decent one - running a snoop on networks later revealed that there's signals from at least half a dozen of them in the vicinity)...
We also found that whilst my laptop's happy to connect via Wireless-N, girlfriend's network adaptor was dropping connection with our Homehub 2-3 times an hour until we limited it to G... both connections have been rock solid ever since!

We have loads of networks around here, I have tried changing channels. It's not just that it disconnects, (When I say disconects I mean from the internet, the connection to the hub remains) sometimes we cant connect at all. For example on Saturday my wife's windows laptop was connected fine, but I couldn't connect at all using my Macbook, then yesterday, I could connect, but my wife couldn't even connect to the router. I have a spare homehub (BT sent us 2 for some unknown reason), I plugged that one in and we were both able to connect. But still have the disconnection to the net issues. The hub usually doesn't disconnect, it's usually just the internet that stops working. Usually if I restart the router, that resolves the problem, temporarily. Another weird thing is that our 2 iphones are fine, ps3 is fine, they maintain good internet connectivity. We also found that whilst my laptop's happy to connect via Wireless-N, girlfriend's network adaptor was dropping connection with our Homehub 2-3 times an hour until we limited it to G... both connections have been rock solid ever since!
