Right, abit of background..

I'm 20 next month, left school at 16 with not that many GCSEs (Didn't take them seriously) and did some mechanics, left that as it wasn't what I thought it'd be. Then did some modified car parts selling etc, and after that am at my current job now doing service advising but am not really enjoying it. The wage is low (<£4/hour low), and its not what I want to do really.

My Dad passed away in May last year, and parents had split up years before anyway so now me and my brother (16) live in our house together, I pay the bills for the house, he's just got a job at HiQ so starting to earn money now, but not much as an apprentice. I got a bar job to earn extra money for the bills, at a nightclub, and was supervisor so thats quite helpful.. Our sister lives with her boyfriend and earns not bad money, so all three of us own the house equally, its worth about £300,000.

I've just split up with my girlfriend, upset about it really, but we'll not go on about that.. My mums parents live out in Benidorm and own a bar out there, but their getting old now.. And the person running their bar isn't interested so they want rid of him.

Apparently they've told my Mum that they'd be interested in me going to live out there, and run the bar for them and turn it around. Its right near the centre of Benidorm and the bar has accomodation for me.

So the whole point in my thread.. What would you do?

I'm not sure if we'd have to sell the house, and thats not fair on my brothers and sisters, but i'm quite fed up of this job, area and want to try something new..

what have you got to lose?

your siblings could get a lodger in to cover the bills

Just go and do it, no ties, nothing to lose.

Don't force the sale of the house assuming that your brother will keep up your side of the bills (he could get a lodger/housemate).

The advantage being you always have a base to come back to in the UK if it doesn't work out and the opportunity to piss £100k up the wall there is not available.

You're twenty and single? Go for it, you've got your whole life ahead of you to settle down and be sensible.

Good luck biggrin

My family were thinking about moving to alacante a few years back, I must have been about 13/14. And I'm 17 now and to be honest I wish we had. Britain is depresing as anything and everyone complains (bit ironic but hey)

I say go, have fun and get some experience, and you can always come back if it's not for you!

Good luck

This is what i'm thinking.. Why haven't I booked the flight already!

My sister could move into our house, with her boyfriend and half the bills with my brother.. And as said, I wouldn't have 100k to waste.

It sounds a good idea, life experience, a new country, a job I quite enjoy.. I didn't enjoy the club over here because of the management, well i'll be management at the one out there..

Go for it, if after 6 months to a year you hate it come back. Running a bar is hard work but bloody good fun if its going well.

Sound out the job offer properly and then, if all seems good, go. As someone else has already suggested, a lodger could cover your part of the house upkeep and I'd have thought that someone of your age would probably know someone who's looking for a room to rent. Try not to sell the house though as it's value will (probably!) only go up and it's a good bit of security for yourself and your siblings as well as somewhere to come back to should things not turn out well in Spain.

Sorry, but I didn't see much of a choice there!

Either sell the house or they get a lodger to keep their end up, you go and live your life and potentially earn a good wage and have the time of your life!

Adios smile

Someone who posts on here went from being a top mechanic and a man to being a woman and a model. Maybe you should try that?

hi, i think you would be mad not to, you have no mortgage and if you do it right with your brother and sister a place to come back to if it goes wrong.

how i would do it is to talk to the brother and sister, and say you want to go, but you don't want to lose the house etc. my suggestion would be to ask your sister and her boyfriend if they want to move in, as then they will be better off and should be able to cover the bills etc.

then you can try a new experience, learn a new language,

http://www.rosettastone.co.uk/learn-spanish

and this may help with the bar work

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cocktail-DVD-Tom-Cruise/dp...

have fun fella, wish i had been presented with this at the same age, i would be a bar owner in benidorm now smile

not going will be the biggest regret later in your life. I can guarantee that.

Go, enjoy, if you don't, come back!

They said to us last year that their apartment (They have two, one to live in, one to rent out) is free the first two weeks of April..

I think i'll book a flight out there and have a look what its like there.

Getting quite excited about the idea of it really.
