what to carry just in case?

I have yet to buy some, but I will be putting a couple of 100amp fuses in. Having suffered from a failure of one a couple of months ago, if I had one in the car, whilst I may not have had the tools to get in there and replace it, Mr RAC would have, and its not the sort of part he would carry.

What, a piece of string and an electrical connector block? Or do you mean a replacement?On long trips I carry spare fuses (not that my car has ever blown one, or a bulb), a spare 100A inline fuse connector block and fuse, tyre pressure gauge, AA membership. On European trips I add jump leads (with correct connector), extra tyre weld, a small toolkit of spanners/items to allow me to perform basic tasks such as removing the airbox. No point in carrying fluids since you can pick them up everywhere.

Spare pair of under crackers for when the back end steps out and bites you.... In all seriousness as well as the other bits listed I have a copy of all the fault codes and what they mean plus a copy of the fuse box diagram showing what goes where.

Yes, bolted into the boot. I'd only try and put on the smallest of smoldering problems on my car though - wouldn't stop a big fire. I keep it mainly in case I can be a help to someone who may be in trouble on the road, and to conform to regs in certain EU countries (I forget which now).Targarama said:

Have you thought where your gonna get a cable from in europe or touring around
I also carry the usual tyre weld, extinguisher & fuses etc.
Got 2 grey carpet type velco attached bags in the boot one with spares/tools etc the other with cleaning stuff.
