So my daughter and her uni friends in a club find that three have had phones stolen from their hand bags whilst on the dance floor. My daughters was on her hip not left alone. Any way they have unzipped the bag and stolen the I phone. This was locked and password protected so cannot be used, but one of the other phones was not. So this piece of s
t decides to ring her parents and tell her that they have kidnapped their daughter and want £10k for her safe return.
Now obviously the parents cannot get hold of her at 2.00am as her phone is knicked, no house phone so the police are called who find no one at her rooms, she was stopping with a friend, so they take this very seriously indeed. eventually find her at 6.00am.
Now stealing the phone for profit, but ringing up to deliberatly worry her parents why and how much would I like to meet them, perhaps worth mentioning to anyone at uni

Lets just hope they do it to the wrong people one day. The very much wrong people...
I'm amazed that this does not happen more often.Even nasty pieces of work have kids so imagine some gangster getting that call from some scroats that have nicked their little princess' phone.
I bet he would find them pretty quickly.
There's a film in the making there.

That is serious, i suspect that if the police catch them they could be in for a lot of trouble. Nicking a phone and getting caught probably won't amount to too much, but making threats of that kind must be very serious even in the eyes of Mr Plod.
Damn right. Hand them to the courts and they will wag their finger at them. Vigorously.croyde said:

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you.
If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.
But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you"

hmm, it would be interesting to see if the police do anything about that.
My line of thinking too. Even if they caught the scroats it would be a caution at worst sadly. Lets just hope they do it to the wrong people one day. The very much wrong people...
The lad owed money to druggies, and rang his Dad saying he'd been kidnapped, then got a mate to pretend he was the kidnapper.
Very quickly sorted out it wasn't genuine. Well, all night, but that's still pretty quick to investigate and disprove. The lad got done for wasting Police time, and got hit with a heftyish fine (~£1,500 IIRC at Court, even though he (wisely) pleaded guilty.
