B&Q Duluxe rich matt at £15 for 10 liters!
Discussion
I was going to say, DO NOT BUY B&Q/Homebase 'own-brand' paint. I tried it (on one wall) and you will not save money due to the fact that you'll have to do more than two coats (plus the downside of the extra time/hassle of doing numerous coats).
p.s They had the same offer in Homebase a week or two ago.

+1I had half a can of Wickes magnolia or similar that did half a room. One coat almost covered it, second was overkill. For the The remaining walls I went to B&Q as it was closer, 3 coats at least needed, 4 in places, rubbish pissy stuff - lesson learned.

As others have said; DO NOT BOTHER it is a false economy.
Dulux trade emulsion is the only way to go, 1 coat and it's done. This is unless you have the inclination to repaint your walls 3 times to get adequate coverage of course.
1 coat? Onto what substrate?Dulux trade emulsion is the only way to go, 1 coat and it's done. This is unless you have the inclination to repaint your walls 3 times to get adequate coverage of course.
As an aside, I saw an advert for Wickes new 'own-brand' paint which 8 out of 10 (or something) professionals said they preferred to the leading brand (Dulux?). Has anyone tried this stuff yet?

http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...Seems like there were opinions from those who bought the old stuff (bad) and the new (good).

The title of my thread is badly worded but I can't change it. What I'm saying is that B&Q are selling Dulux Rich Matt at £15 for 10 litres. Which is very cheap

ETA: is there a Mod around who can edit my title please?

I bought some Dulux 'once' in B&Q the day this thread was first posted and I couldn't believe how much it had gone up since I last bought some: I got a 10 litre tub of it as I'm doing a kitchen/dinning room and redoing the hall. I nearly went for a cheaper option, but as it is a particular colour that the OH likes I thought I'd better stick with the known brand especially as some of it will be going over some fresh plaster (I know I need a first watered down coat for that bit
). Shame I didn't look a bit harder as I might have seen the rich matt offer assuming they do the colour I wanted in that range...

I'm sure the Wickes stuff I bought was cheap too, which is why my expectations of it weren't high. I was very pleasantly surprised! It's not just the coverage, but the texture of it which makes using it an absolute breeze. It seems to want to stick to the wall rather than the roller when compared to all the other brands I've tried... if that makes sense.
