Hi,

Whilst repairing a blocked rear washer jet on my R53 I snapped the hinged plastic cover on the rear wiper assembly. Everything is working except for the washer jet as water now leaks out of the base of the blade where I snapped the plastic.

Does anyone have a good source of this part?

It is only the part at the base of the wiper blade that I am after. (see pic)

minispares will only sell me the whole assembly for £35 + £5 p&p which seems excessive when I only want the cover.

My local dealer charged just over £7 for a new rear wiper arm & blade, which I thought was more than reasonable. They also supplied a new plastic cover for the water spray for about £1.80. I need another one now, as it seems that once they get blocked up, they're scrap.

Give your local dealer a call; you may be pleasantly surprised.

Well after contacting breakers, checking ebay, posting on here I've exhausted all my resources so will be onto dealer next.

Funnily mine has become blocked twice and a little treatment with WD40 and a fine needle got it sorted.

Shortly after I wrote the above, I got a thin piece of wire and had a good go at clearing the blockage in the plastic clip. This still didn't work, so off it came again for another try, which made things only slightly better. It turned out that there was also a blockage in the tube at the base of the rear windscreen - nothing to do with the plastic hinge.

Anyway, after 2 minutes work with a coctail stick, I now have a fully functioning rear wash/wipe and an extra £1.80 in my pocket!

Glad to hear it. The less money in the stealers pocket the better. biggrin

I was lucky, my WD40 came with a thin pointy nozzle. Did the lubricating and the unblocking in one.

£3.21 cover fitted and resolved.
