Rallying at Historic Motorsport Show

Get yourself to Stoneleigh Park this weekend

A fabulous line-up of cars and drivers, including many front-runners from the Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship will give fans an insight into historic rallying during the International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh Park this weekend.

Heading the field will be rally legends Pentti Airikkala (Vauxhall Chevette HSR) and Russell Brookes (Ford Escort), while current BHRC champion Steve Perez will field his mighty ex-Mikkola Audi Sport Quattro. However, with some of the fastest drivers from the BHRC also in action for a pre-season warm-up, the competition for the stars will be tough.

David Stokes (Ford Escort RS1600), Nick Whale (Porsche 911RS), Adrian Kermode (Porsche 911), Dominic Frattaroli (Datsun 240Z), Rikki Proffitt (Ford Escort RS1800 and Steve Smith (Ford Escort RS2000) are all sure to thrill the crowds. However, given the nature of the short and twisty stage, Clive King's Mini Cooper S could be amongst the fastest cars.

Cars from the HRCR Classic Stage Rally Challenge will also be competing and the Classic entry is headed by the Sunbeam Lotus of Steve Stringer and the Ford Escort RS2000 of Russ Langthorne.

A field of nearly 50 cars will take part in the event run by the Historic Rally Car Register and will run over a three-quarter mile stage in the grounds of Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

The stage is on wholly on the tarmac roads of the showground and will offer excellent spectator viewing for visitors to the event. The action will run from 10am until 12 noon and from 2pm until 4pm each day, with the cars tackling a total of eight stages.

Not Sunday - thats VW. I'm going on the Saturday. Should be good. If this takes off I'll not be going to the Autosport Show in future.
