I've picked up a Karcher snow foam attachment for my pressure washer. Can I put neat car shampoo in it (e.g. Autoglym) or should I water it down first?

I would put in a 50-50 mix of car shampoo and warm water. You will not get a huge amount of foam from one of these compared to a 'professional' snowfoam lance, but it does an ok job.

Is a proper foam lance and proper snowfoam a worthwhile investment? You seem to be able to get them for about £50 nowadays

I would say so, I put off getting one for ages but now I wouldn't go back. It'll pay for itself eventually as you only use about 25ml of 'stuff' per car.

Depends on what you're expecting. Snowfoam is a useful pre-wash stage to help loosen dirt, but it's no substitute for mitt and bucket. When I'm time-pressured I sometimes go for a contactless wash using snowfoam only but it certainly doesn't get the car anywhere near as clean as the full process. Albeit I haven't yet tried the Bilt-Hamber foam which apparently works better than most.
