We have a Vola Shower, the control looks like this:-

Currently only producing cold water.

Spoke to the recommended stockist/installer today, who diagnosed that the thermostat had gone.

New part needs to be ordered, £400 + VAT. yikes

Anyone got an opinion on whether this is a reasonable diagnosis, and on the cost?

Speak to the manufacturers technical department. I had similar problems with a customers shower, I thought it was the thermostatic cartridge, they sent out an O-ring pack in the post. Replaced one and removed one and it worked.
