I've been phoning around for insurance quotes on a T350 and they've been rather high. Tried all the usual suspects and well into the recommended list on here. Spoke to a nice lady at the TVRCC who gave me some good advice as well, but most are coming back with quotes of several thousand pounds - the best I've found so far is actually my other-car-insurer, Elephant, who have quoted £1,100.

I'm 29, no points, no claims, limited 3k miles etc - 3yrs no claims on other car and have been getting quotes for the tvr based on zero ncb. From what I can tell, the biggest single factor is my inexperience with high performance cars and it's that which is pushing up the premium...

I was just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar position and whether anyone had any advice. At the moment I'm thinking I'll have to bite the bullet and pay a fair bit for my first year and fingers-crossed it'll come down drastically at renewal.

The real pain is that Hagerty had quoted me ~£500 before xmas when I was phoning around for an idea of costs but they've since stopped insuring these newer TVRs, as has been discussed elsewhere..! GAH!

Your high performance RWD experience is probably the problem, most TVR accident are single vehicle 'mistakes'. You will probably have to pay a bit more for the first year or two, then it will drop to the level us oldtimers enjoy.

Edited to add: there isn't much you can do about it - I drove RWD cars before - MK1 Escort, Nissan Silvia, Nissan 200sx Turbo then into a Chimaera 4.0L - good progression. You could drive an S2000 or an M3 for a year or two, but that kind of misses the point of wanting to buy a TVR.

Have you tried A-Plan or MSM? They've consistently been best for me over the years.

Classicline is probably your best bet, but make sure it's garaged overnight. And be prepared to have high excess if you want the premium to be sub £1K

So I've got quotes back from *everyone* and the best is still my current insurers (Elephant) on a multicar policy, ok-ish terms.

Seems like the area and inexperience are going against me so I'm going to go with current and then back with Mannings next year. A little worried that a company like elephant might be a bit sketchy wrt claims/assessments on a TVR but I'm left with little choice this year. Touch wood it will be a happy and incident-free year so they won't need to get involved smile

Cheers for the info and advice chaps.
