Barn owl:

And a short-eared owl:

Taken recently with a Canon 50D, 500mm F4 + 1.4TC on a tripod. Great subjects to observe and try to photograph, though not easy given their preference for hunting after all the decent light has gone.

They are brilliant pictures.
There is a big white owl living near me (not sure of the breed) and would love to get a good picture of it but dont have a lens that would get one in the dark.

Good shots - are they the full frame, or crops?
Canon 500 F4 = a V nice lens indeed.

Barn owl shots are minor crops, but the SEO was a fair crop. Kept their distance sadly. Need to change my aftershave...

Thanks for the comments, and yes the 500mm is a stonking lens smile
