For those who are interested, Dave and I are about to build a LSX engine(for my GTR), we are going to build it from scratch, dyno it and map it all ourselves. Im going to post the specs, please let me know what you think and have a guess at what power you think it will make (we have estimated).

LSX block
Callies crank and rods(steel)
Clevite bearings
Diamond forged pistons (9.5 to 1 compression)
CNC ported LS3 heads(better flow)
Custom ground camshaft (Mike Jones), to run with a blower and also give 7000rpm max (210 max speed) but good low speed street manners
Yella Terra rockers(1.7 ratio) with double valve springs
D1SC ProCharger with 10psi but also may try 15psi!!!
2" headers with 24" primaries (Dynoed with these fitted)
Super unleaded fuel
Edelbrock inlet manifold with central throttle body location and twin fuel rails
65 lb hour injectors
A biiiiigggg intercooler (modified by Mr Can Am Dave with his TIG)

All to be mapped with Efi Live.

If anyone is interested i will post pictures of the build and link a video of the dyno run?

About 800bhp at 10psi and hoping for 1000bhp at 15psi ?

Very interesting project - I will be following the build - I think it should make 1500 hp

What capacity will the engine be and have you considered even larger injectors?

Good luck Kyle .

There is nothing better than building an engine from scratch and seeing what it will do!!!!!!!

Have fun..

Gulf, can i ask what the reason for using the LSx block is? I have heard of a few problems with the block. Also i dont think the bores are very long compeard to other options.

Also on the heads, How come you are not using an aftermarket head?

Not trying to be an ars* to wondering. smile

EDIT: also is this the stock deck hight or the tall deck version? Oh and will you guys be looking into using the 5th and 6th head bolts the LSx block supports?

Would be nice to have it ready for Stoneleigh mate! All the best with the build. It'll be nice to see both are ProCharged motors running side by side! Fighting Torque should be a fun event this year! As for power, a bit less than mine would be nice!biggrin

414 cuin, the 65's should be ok for 850-900 bhp at 80% duty cycle if my calculations are correct. I would be interested in your views Mike.

we have gone for the steel block to help with the boost implications, cost constaints really meant we could not go for all the very best bits, i would of liked the six bolt heads but could not really afford them.

i would be interested in your findings on the block though Chris.

For a v8 I just use a fag packet calculation that should make it safe. Saves repeating all the maths. 1000 hp use 100lbs, 800 hp use 80 lbs and so forth. Then knock off a bit if you like. In the real world you'll be quite happy going smaller but I wouldn't use 65's though for your upper levels.

How much is the prize worth for the nearest HP estimate ?? biggrin

This is the eco version Chunters.....plan B, also under-way will include six bolt heads.
Later LSX blocks have apparently undergone a few mods and claimed improvements.
Just testing various combinations for differing budgets and levels of lunacy.....should be plenty to follow!
