430 manual stall
Discussion
Has anyone here noticed that the 430 manual revs drop right down when you go from 2nd to 1st at a roundabout for instance? I noticed it on saturday and felt I had to give it more revs than necessary when pulling away because it felt like it was going to stall. The salesman said it is normal and it's best not to use 1st anyway unless you come to a complete stop. This was happening when chaning down and still rolling (ableit crawling really). It's not that I dont believe him but I just wanted some reassurance.
I was on a test drive so was not used to that particular car but I dont remember that characteristis on other 430's I've driven
Any help appreciated.

Going down the 430 'box is a joy, helped so much by the peddle setup which facilitates heel and toe so well. The exception for me is doing exactly what you've described. Putting it into first whilst still on the move is tricky(for me), and I blip the throttle a bit more to ease it in.
I think the salesman may have a good point, but what he fails to recognise is the absolute need to have the car in the lowest gear possible at all times so it's as noisey as it can be and everyone knows you're coming!

Its not getting it into first that is the issue, it's the revs almost dying as you let the clutch out and pull away. It needs more revs that seems natural, obviously that helps with the noise.....but I still wondered whether that sounded odd.
My 550 sometimes cuts out when cold and you're manoveuring slowly in first. Ferraris!?

No worries, its not normal. I will check it out when I pick it up next week. Ironaically it's a car I factory ordered two years ago. When it arrived I decided not to take it and someone else bought it. I lost my deposit obviously but the long and short of it is I've bought the car I specced for 50k less with 3k on the clock. Result.
It is a beautiful 430 spider in grigio, black interior and cermaics. Manual, as per the above. I will investigate this properly once I get the car. It could be the ECU or the fact that it hasn't been driven much lately. It's not taxed, the fuel might be off as well?
