About bloody time too. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere already.

I'd not seen that.
Long overdue...although exactly how this verbal announcement sits alongside the proposed orphaning legislation and the proposals to deem photos in public places 'subject to consent' (WTF?), I really don't know.
Sounds like more of "We'll verbally say everything's OK because that's what the press report, but quietly carry on with the original plan and they'll never notice until it's too late!"

I love the "this law is not designed to stop the inocent, just the guilty" line being spewed forth by the minister. How do they intend to allocate guilt, oh yes they want to stop you, ask lots of personal questions and then they will make up their mind about your guilt and either let you go on your way or arrest you!

And the daft thing is you only come to the attention of the "authorities" if you have a largish camera with a substantial lens. Use a compact or a phone camera and they "think" you are a genuine tourist.
You would think Canon/Nikon should be fighting for our rights - people who don't want hassle may just get a Panasonic GF1 or a Olympus Pen etc.

Where did they get the idea that terrorists visit their targets with DSLRs anyway? They know where the targets are already, all they have to do is plant a bomb, not waste valuable killing time taking photos.
You seem to know an awful lot about this terrorism stuff
