What's least you'd spent on a Cerbera...?

Can one which will make it off the sellers drive be got for less than 10k? I have seen from 8k but have always wondered whether they are just sheds in party frocks?

Yeah but be prepared to spend good money if things go pear shaped, cars priced that low are normally like that for a reason, Just go with your eyes open and pick the one thats in best condition for your money!!

I would agree with the above. If its cheap, its cheap for a reason. Doesn't mean you can't get a bargain but it will be great condition for the price, rather than buying "a cerb" for 10k or less. Mine cost me 10.5k and it will cost me around 3-4k to get it to how I want it.

I spent more than the 10k you mention on mine nigh on 3 years ago and within 3 months had a £6600 rebuild to do so price doesn't always mean it's not going to need money spent on it soon after purchase.

Condition and not price will decide. There will be some sheds at good money (say 15k) and some good cars at low money (say 9k). Only an inspection and test will tell.
So back to the question, if the car was 1p and right I'd buy it, if it was 1p and wrong I'd walk ihth.

I spent £9750 on mine but knew that I would have to spend money on it sorting out bit's and pieces. Biggest job has been the respray to sort out the crap paint job it had. I reckon when it's finished how I want it it will probably have cost £13k ish, probably could have bought one with the stuff already done on it for that sort of money but I opted for getting it up to scratch myself so that I knew it was done properly. I bought what I considered to be an "honest car". Main thing for me was it was mechanically sound and chassis was ok, half the fun has been getting how I want it. What ever you spend you'll be hooked, just go in to it with your eyes open.

Come on, you know this is a silly question. If you look hard enough and for long enough you will find a great cerb for cheap money. There will be lots of rubbish out there. Generally the bigger your budget the better.

Mine is up for 10k and it is certainly not a shed and dare i say much better than most that i had seen when i was looking to purchase which were up at 15k+. The main areas on mine are sound, refurbed chassis, rebuilt engine and all working electrics, recent respray. I had it up for more but i felt that 10k would be a more realistic price to sell. All IMHO

very true, people on here know their cerbs and what they're worth but there are also people who own cerbs and have no idea on their value and although they have been well looked after, when they put it up forsale they totally undervalue it.

if your handy with the spanners and have the time and space then costs can be kept down but if your going to get someone to do the work for you then things could spiral out of control very quickly.

That's mine. I have a few viewings lined up this week so no doubt it will be gone. Was out on a test drive in it yesterday with a fella who had come to take a look, very emotional knowing I will be parting with it

I looked at a few before deciding on the one I bought. They ranged from an £8000 750 BHP one (yeah, right) throuh to some £22K ones. Unless you really know your stuff, or are a lucky gambler, you will get what you pay for!

maybee the previous owner/s didn't keep all the bills and reciepts.
Your quote above fits my car for sale in the classifieds, in my opinion it is a good honest car and is priced to sell.

OOps sorry - can only comment on what I can read, personally I would remove the £5K statement as it might put some people off? Unless you change it to say 'recent £5K worth of bills'....

The 5k is for parts alone , does not include labour or servicing.
Might be a good idea to explain it better in the advert..

Mine cost £9000 recently after I knocked £1000 off for non functioning steering wheel controls, heater, etc. on a 2000 Speed 6 with 48,000 miles.
Paid for it with Switch and drove it back 120 miles on the same day as it was the only day in January that didn't need wipers.
I think the garage just wanted rid because of the narrow market and wrong time of year. They spent a day working on it before I saw it but couldn't sort it.

Took me a while to overcome the problems caused by poor TVR component selection/design due to cracking and loose ribbon cables and a seriously poor workshop manual.
It must taken all of a morning to compile!
Compare it to my Lotus Elise manual which describes every last nut and bolt with very complete wiring diagrams.

Interior lights still do not work and thought I had an overheating problem with the temp gauge reading 105C in traffic but eventually tested it in boiling water to find it reading 10C too high.

Engine runs great though and all the servicing history is in a nice folder.

Only recent problem was when the door/window controller failed. I was going to make my own but found one for less than £100.

So I am a happy owner.
