I think they are referring to a 2000E gearbox which is a Type 9.

Maybe the A or B represent the versions with and without the integrated bellhousing. Also the later type 9 had 2 versions with different length input shafts, longer for the V6 applications, don't know the rocket was the same in that respect.

A, B, D & E refer to boxes pre 5 Speed type 9. The E is the 2000E style box with A & B being early post side valve stuff such as 105E Anglias & Mk1 Cortinas.
I used to have a CCC that had pics of this lot & the differences, some were V6 only & had side linkages. These were Zodiac Mk4 etc.
