went through a conventional gatso today, it was on the other side of the road, it was facing me with no markings on my side. it was not a truvelo. was it just a dodgy cam? also, went past a white van, on the opposite side of the road, back facing me, with blacked out rear windows. with 'police' on the side. no mention of safetey cameras or anything. talivan or anpr?

You're clear on the camera front.

Van maybe a different ball game though...

I think I may have been done this morning too just a case of wait and see now, how long does a nip generally take to come in from a scamera van?

I doubt if it was a conventional gatso Pwig.
It may have been one of the new 'survey' camera jobbies which are housed in gatso boxes. These are generally used for traffic information or anything else, and normally sighted at junctions.

No lines, you should be ok matey.

I am under the impression that it will land on your doormat within 14 days.

Fingers crossed.

Probably electric chair but I think Derbyshire have resorted back to plain old hanging as they can't afford the electricity bill anymore having housed several hundred thousand immigrants during 2003

Could it perhaps have been a normal Gatso for the opposite lane, which you triggered by driving too fast towards it? I've done this a few times.

I think this is just an illegal-asylum seekers sandwich van, set up to provide food to asylum seekers smuggled in to the country illegally and in the process of disappearig in to the countryside.

There's a dodgy Gasto near my house that does this if you go towards it over the limit. It's only got lines on the road going away from it. I've set it off, so's my dad and a mate too and none of us have recieved a NIP so you should be ok. Not sure about the van, but talivans normally have things like "looking out for your safety" or some such bollox on them and I've not seen one with police written on it.

It's all getting very confusing. My daughter got flashed twice by the camera near Harlow's Moat House and she was within the speed limit. She never heard anything about it though.

I think you will be ok pwig. Even if the marks were on the road I would very much doubt that you were 'zapped'

I hope not anyway, my thoughts on cameras are well known. .....better not bring that up again!

I think the white van would have been the anpr camera, which is a good bit of kit.

Also,
Mrs fish, if you were zapped, then you have plenty of time to return it, or dispute it, upon your return from holiday.
If away for a marathon amount of time, and you have not replied, this will be taken into consideration.

Have a good holiday and sod the camera.

Mike.

Shock! A scamera partnership actually validating the speed before sending an NIP? What is this world coming to?

Hmmmm, bit concerned myself about a camera incident last night.

12.30am, coming onto the M42 from the M40, so into the roadworks in the 50mph limit. Nothing on the road. Went through a Gatso at 55 (GPS confirmed) so wasn't overly worried - however, got the dreaded double flash.

Odd thing was, the double flash came a few secs after I'd passed over the markings, it was way back in my rear view mirror. There was a car behind me, but he didn't seem to have reached the camera and was doing about the same speed as me.

Hoping it's a dodgy camera / out of film... If I was past the markings I can't see that they would have an accurate fix on my speed though. Anybody know what speed the M42 roadworks cameras trigger at?

And now the 14 day wait
