Im either going mad, or I have the wrong site....but im sure someone in this section was building a Volvo red block to go into a drag car?
Now I have finished licking my wounds over the whole Kev Taylor / CRAP Conversions episode im thinking, maybe....I can do a better job myself (which wouldnt be that hard, all things considered) and then thought....instead of doing the usual V8 route, why not go for something cheaper and more modern (albeit slower) then have some fun doing RWYB's....
Hence the thought of a slightly worked over Volvo turbo lump, hell if I can put a Chevy in a Mopar, why not a Volvo ;-)
Yes...it wont be pretty, no it wont be fast, but....if I buy a complete car, then it might be an easy conversion
So....if that is you, could you let me know please?
Or, if anyone else has any ideas for a cheap donor car (and I am talking CHEAP here) that has one of those engines that is just begging to be fettled for a load of extra bhp then im all ears

You're not the only one. There's a piece in the Capri Club magazine this month about the demise of CRAP. Apparently, he still has a large number of customer Capris and various parts etc., and they're not all at his main site, but are scattered around several and only he seems to know where they all are.

you'll be hard pressed to find an alternative to the grunt of a V8, You don't need mega power to run respectable times in something light like a slingshot or altered. A warmed over smallblock will see you hit low 11's/ high 10's. Stick a nitrous kit on it and you could have a 9 second car ?. Just depends on what floats your boat.

Ooooh tell me about it....im still down a load of parts (which im not expecting to ever see again, as well as a shed load of money). At least I know where the car is!!

Indeed Phil, but what with the above and a divorce, money is silly silly tight and with the car in its current state im thinking **** it, im not going to let this whole episode stop me and so am looking for a complete car I can rip everything out of (engine, box, dash, wiring, pumps etc etc etc) and transfer it over. It wont be pretty....but at least I will be able to drive the thing!! With the Menace being a hell of a lot of fiberglass/carbon fibre and with 'easy' power available out of the Volvo turbos...it would still be reasonably quick, but not stupidly fast (like I wanted!)

Yeah, it was BB-Q, but think he might have gotten out of the loop.

You could try a PM via his profile http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?mem...
