Most impressive driving you've seen, and why?
Discussion
Chaps,
What's the most impressive driving you've seen, and why? Any type will count, although a preferable bias towards road or track day (as opposed to competitive) would be appreciated.
Mine? Driving across the Welsh hills late last summer, via Lake Bala. A typically wet welsh day, low cloud, mist, drizzle. Wet, single-track mountainous roads.
I was in the 944, and was held up by a range rover towing a twin-axle caravan. But not by much at all - I don't know what model of rangie he was driving, but he was making serious progress, and while I'd swear that drifting a caravan is nigh on impossible, I'm not convinced he wasn't doing it ...
Seriously impressive driving.
Oli.

Please don't laugh, but....... the film version of 'The Dukes Of Hazzard' and in particular the part where 'The General' is trying to escape from Atlanta PD and doing a very prolonged powerslide round a roundabout, just inches from the other moving vehicles.
Absolutely fooking awsome!

Watching a [i]very/i] enthusiastically driven M3 being thrown around the hairpins on the Rue de Chenus in Courchevel one night. The road was icy as hell, yet the car was going like the clappers. Several F1 drivers had chalets in the town at that time so there's a good chance that explains the car control!
Also hugely memorable was following a guy in an old Triumph TR (TR5 maybe?) going down a country lane in Somerset one night, drifting it from apex to apex in the most fantastically elegant, relaxed manner. I, on the other hand, had white knuckles trying to keep up in a much more modern machine.

One that instantly springs to mind is Jason Platos save on Paddock Hill Bend at Brands.
Hmm.. All he did there was floor it, hold full opposite lock and wait. I'm not exactly the best driver in the world, but in my time racing front wheel drive I've had a couple of moments like that and it's just about reaction times and knowing when to and how to unwind the steering when the slide starts to end. Plato's a very good driver, and he's impressed me more on other occasions.RobM77 said:

I'm just trying to say that every time I turn on the telly and watch professional motorsport I see loads of driving that I couldn't begin to match (including by Mr Plato of course), but Plato's save at Brands is something that I can relate to quite clearly. This
