Im going to barcelona with 8 of the lads tommorow. other than having tickets for the football against Valencia on sunday night we have nothing planned - well apart from flights and a hotel.

Does anyone have any quick suggestions for where to go, what to see, what bars and clubs to visit etc?

Mind yourself on Las Ramblas late at night but other than that work your way through the Gothic quarter towards the marina and you'll trip over plenty of bars, clubs etc along the way.

If you fancy same decent tapas there is a market halfway down Las Ramblas towards the marina on the right hand side. Walk to the back and there are quite a few Tapas stands that are used by all the locals yum

Enjoy.

Grab the hop on/off tour bus thats the sites covered in a few hours, leaving plenty of time for the bars and clubs. wink

If you get down to the marina area theres a strip that runs down the beach which is full of clubs. I remember a club called Catwalk that was one of the good ones, oh and clubs don't get busy till midnight at least.

Also drinks were damn expensive in the clubs so get your drink in elsewhere.

Just watch each others backs when drunk around the metro and La Ramblas someone tryed too dip into one of the lads pockets when we went (pickpocket didn't realise there 4 others behind him, and we quickly got the stuff back) other than that fantastic place, the nou camp is great. do the stadium tour and museum that will take up a few hours check the opening times because it shuts early on match day

Bagdad club. Oh and as already mentioned, watch out for pickpockets.

Do a search back about 3-4 months, I live in BCN and shared a few things in a thread.

It´s a great place, and only Las Ramblas and the port area are affected by pickpockets... and maybe the odd train. If you´re drunk and in this area... you will be targetted
Some cracking food places... but see the other thread for details

And watch the gypsies snaffle anything valuable (including the meal paymentbanghead) that's left on your table. They sweep into a restaurant, fan out, pinch anything that's not tied down and leave again before the waiters can stop them.

yes

And its not just pickpockets you should be wary of - a couple of leather jacketed con-men posing as police, with warrant cards of very dubious quality, tried it on with me and the missus last time we were in Barcelona. They got naff all, but it didn't stop them from asking for a look at my wallet.

Just be wary.

Of everyone.

Been a couple of times, one of my fave cities and I live in Sheffield!

We just walked around and went in bars that we liked the look of....there were plenty.

The touristy food places are not a patch on the back street places frequented by locals. Its just finding them.
