Erm, I don't think not having the right to protest would have any effect on a mass uprising of people. Although if it did, then fk it, we deserve what we get.

I did actually write to number 10 re. the V.A.T. going back up, but no corresponding fall in fuel duty. Will dig the response out for you all to have a giggle at. The original letter went to Gordon, but I was told he was too busy fking up the country to respond and my concern would be forwarded to the Treasury.

Any resolve will not come about by writing letters to some bored intern who has never seen the PM.

Mass civil disobedience is the only thing that will have any effect. But Pistonheads hates strikes and public protests, although I get the funny feeling hypocrisy will rear its ugly head should there be strikes and civil disobedience due to petrol prices.

If enough people come out rights and laws cease to matter. Lets say 20% of motorists took the number plates off a blockade the streets. The police don't have enough man power to do anything about it.

Your lucky mate. I filled up our three on Sunday.... It cost me just over £210. I'll be doing the same again this coming Sunday, and the Sunday after, and the Sunday after.

Reduce fuel duty and they will just make up the deficit somewhere else, probably raise NI. You can't win.

NI increase or income tax increase is a much fairer way to make up revenue rather than placing huge tax burden on a single group of society...ie the motorist.
