north london property!

I am soon to be working at Heathrow, and was wondering if some of you guys could share some of your knowledge of North/North West London. I'm keen to be on a tube line to Heathrow airport, or a bus or a train whatever really, but being next door to the airport isn't really what I'm after...

A few of my friends and colleagues that have worked around the north of the Heathrow/Hounslow areas suggested Ealing, but i was just looking to see if any of you guys have or have had experiences of living in these areas?
