Back to the Chimaera

Pick up my second Chimaera on friday, within a year of buying my first via a Cerbera 4.2. I tryed the Cerbera for a few months and I much prefer the Chimaera. I can't wait to pick her up Samoa blue with Portland grey.

Went for the Cerbera for the extra speed but I think its too quick and very hard work. In my opinion the Rover V8 has a much nicer engine note and I really missed not having a soft top (even in winter). The Chimaera much easier to have fun in (driving that is) and the running costs are much less too, I think I'm going to stick with the Chim for a long time now.

Welcome back! Got my first TVR in December but only started to drive it last weekend
They certainly get under your skin. I keep looking for excuses to take it out. God help the limited mileage policy when (if) the weather gets better!
BTW what size engine this time?

went with a 4.0 again, couldn't find a 4.5,5 in colour comb / condition / price that i was after.

I too have moved onto a Chimaera from a Cerbera (sold the 4.2 due to potential house move which hasnt happened yet - hence another TVR!).

Have to say I'm having a lot more fun with the Chimaera too! Cerbera was the one I always wanted for the fantastic looks & brutal power, but I found it very fragile and twitchy, and too much of a pain to drive on a daily basis.

The Chimaera has enough power, not too ugly itself and the top comes off ;-) I miss the pops and bangs of the Cerbera (soon to be fixed on the Chimaera with an exhaust mod), but not the running costs.....

My thoughts exactly, but you've got to try it. Nothing like I expected though.

What are you having done to the exhaust?

mine pops and bangs a fair bit with the baffles removed. Not so much at 50mph+ as a cerb does with a sports exhaust, but a big improvement on the standard exhaust.

Yep - going down this route too. Seems most effective mod. from reading posts on here. My Cerbera had a RT Racing Sports exhaust which cost a bit, but think I'll be more than happy with the baffle option - just need some crackles and pops!

Done the same myself, but had a Cerbera first then a Tuscan, and totally agree with you Have Fun.

I have to say your chim looks the mutts nuts. The colour, the wheels (and the fact they are balck not silver) and the headlight upgrade. That is simply fantastic.

Doing exactly the same myself, had Griff then Chim, moved on to Cerb, but agree totally with above, prefer RV8, reliability and sound, easier to drive and have fun in and of course the roof comes off.
Going to go the sports exhaust route aswell, must have pops and bangs.

P7ULG like the spiders on your Chim, are they 18's? cos I have a set I'd like to put on my shortly arriving baby. Also can the conversion kit be bought for 4 to 5-stud fitment?

They are 16 inch 5 stud Spiders.They came as part of the factory wheel& Brake upgrade. Think you might have clearance trouble with 18s.
