iphone - 3g, 3gs?

I'm thinking about getting an iphone and have noticed that o2 offer refurbed 3g's. Is there mucg difference between a 3g and a 3gs?

The gs has a processor that's twice as fast and a few extras like a compass, that helps with some of the location apps, voice control and video.

Supposedly there will be a new model out Spring/Summer so I'm gonna wait and see.
