flash on the iphone / ipad

sorry for dumb questions but dont have either so cant easily test.

these devices "dont support flash" as far as i understand it. what does that actually mean - ie if a website is totally flash does it not appear at all? are youtube vids flash if so how does it play them? bit confused over the formats thanks

Anything on a website written in flash just won't appear. So ads, menus, or whole websites if that it how they were created.

Youtube streams MP4 videos (not flash) to the iPhone's Youtube app.

If a site uses a Flash object then you'll get a white box with a little blue lego brick in the middle of it, like this (amusingly taken from Mr Jobs' launch of the iPad!)
