surely with the ITV player facility and Sky + anyone wanting to see the program will have ample opportunity to watch without the need of this show on every bloody day of the week?

It's cheap, crappy television - this is where ITV really shines. All they have to do is take a load of the 'best' items from the weekday show and sling it into a weekend special. Bingo - schedule filled for minimal cost.
