Rumbling and vibration

A few years ago I had my Mk2 Escort installed with a 1600 xflow engine and a Sierra type 9 5-speed box. Ever since, there has been a lot of vibration through the car, the worst of which has been cured by swapping for a new propshaft which I assume to be properly balanced.
Despite it having had a couple of engines over the years, 2 or 3 gearboxes, a replacement diff, a new gearbox mounting to line everything up - with a new mounting rubber, there is still a vibration there.
I am hoping this might be down to the shagged bearings in the gearbox, which is about to be replaced, but I have a gut feeling it will still be there.
Any ideas folks?
