Shocking fuel hose perishing!!!

Was changing the oil pressure sender and the speed sensor which have both died after 8k, and spotted the fuel hose from the tank to the pump which was so perished it shocked me. Clearly TVR didn't buy high quality fuel pipe! It's a disgrace that anyone would fit this crap hose to a car for somone else/acustomer car!!

They were not the best of hoses were they but all the same I would have thought that the place that does the service would have checked them every time it went in. It is a must on TVRs to make sure these are checked because we have lost so many TVRs due to fire and once a fibreglass car sets on fire it's usually bye bye.

I think it's not just TVR's problem, a friend with golfs had the same issues, rubber does perish specially if left not doing anything for a long time, part of the problem with very low mileage and rarely used cars.

Yes, this topic can not be brought up to TVR owners attention often enough (there were some posts in the past already - maybe worth to make it an always on top topic just like the battery charge point issue). The hoses are crap and need to be closely observed, or better replaced even on younger cars.

Mine had started to go when i bought it, upgraded to marine fuel hose grade A and replaced the fitting with marine stainless too, job worth doing.

I also changed the cheapo plastic pipe between the pump and filter after i managed to split it trying to change filter. Goes brittle with heat i think.

Mine is fitted with a non fuel specification hose between the tank and the pump (no marking on it at all which I think is required for fuel hose), then the plastic hose from the pump to the filter and the filter along the chassis to the fuel rail. I'm not too confident that the plastic hose is of the correct spcification, seeing as the hose wasn't. What do you guys reccomend? I've ordered some high quality hose and connectors to replace between the tank and the pump. Got a nice mouthful of fuel trying to syphon out the remaining fuel in preparation for the hose change!!
