Dodgy power supply to computer?

My pc is about 6 years old now and for the past few months it will not power up until it has been switched on at the mains for at least 10 mins,any ideas?

Knackered electrolytic caps in the PSU or motherboard can cause this symptom. Your PC is old enough to have been affected by this problem

OTOH it might be a simple BIOS battery problem, these are often a lithium coin cell. Crack open the PC and check for any leaking/bulging caps as shown in the wiki article, and if it all looks good try a new BIOS battery.
