Oil light has come on rattling like a bag of nails.
Oil level appears to have gone up, checked top end and it appears oil is not flowing.
Is there any additive i can put in to clear oilways? Cars not worth a lot and i'm no mechanic.
If the oil starts flowing and the engine isn't wrecked it may be worth spending a bit, especially as it was only MOTd yesterday!

If there is no oil pressure then either:

The oil pump or pump drive has failed (the latter is a common fault on the Isuzu 1.7 TD engine)
The oil pickup pipe is blocked
The pressure release valve is stuck open
The bottom end of your engine is knackered (probably is now even if it wasn't before).

Unfortunately none of these problems will be fixed by an oil additive.

If its that bad, the only thing that will cure it is a good set of ear defenders..

Rattling and oil light is usually terminal

To add...the oil pumps give bother, or the oil pump nut comes loose.

either way, first comment still stands

Ever consider the crank, rods and bearings too ?

If its rattling like you said, they could well be fked too. Buying an oil pump without having inspected those first...isnt a wise idea

Noise was coming from pump area.
Only ran briefly, should be fine.
