Boosting awareness of a blog

For a few weeks now, I've been writing a car blog and have received some good feedback from my followers on Twitter.

Although it is perhaps quite amateurish and the web is littered with similar blogs, often from more respected writers, I'd like to raise the profile a little.

Any top tips for me to do this?!

Write stuff people want to read. No, really!
Write things which people might Google for and people will land on your site.
Google likes blogs and will put you well up the rankings if your ramblings are relevant.

I've noticed today that it is appearing more in the search engines, which is a good thing. Strangely, I've also started getting in bound links into the site, which is a good sign.

I work in the creative industry, so know a couple of tricks, but I'm concerned more about quality 'petrol' visitors rather than just the number of visitors. If that makes any sense!

Today has been the busiest day on the blog so far. Now I need to keep up the momentum!

Have a look into Twitter and Facebook, post to each whenever you post a new blog entry. Don't expect a flood of traffic (at first) but every little counts! There are Wordpress plugins that allow you to do this automatically. You say that you have seen more and more links to the site, this is great. Links are a major factor in your search rankings.

Appreciate the feedback guys. If it is ok, I'll probably start a new thread and give updates when new posts are added to the blog. If nobody cares and interests drops off, then it can die a slow and horrible death!
