Master cylinder - help and advice

Poor gear selection (i.e. only 2nd and 4th if I'm lucky) plus wet carpet under pedals = master cylinder gone I think.

Having read some of the forums here it sounds like master cylinder replacement is reasonably do-able for a novice. Could someone give me a step by step guide so I don't goof it up...!

It's an easy job to do. I've not long done mine. Once the system has been bled the hardest bit of the whole job is getting to the 13mm bolt on the underside of the master cyl - i ended up making a small incision in the wing to get a spanner in there. Also my copper pipe that goes into the master cylinder was a right nightmare to get off so ended up cutting through it and replacing it. Bank on having to put a new one of these on there. When refitting just be sure to get the cyl rod nice and straight to the peddle - you don't want it coming off the master cyl at an angle to the peddle.

It's such an easy job even that FUBAR could do it !

just done mine(after clutch and flywheel) bottom nut is the tricky bit. on refitting i used mettle putty on bolt head to keep it there when doing up, get a friend to help with removal and dont do up master cylinder until after getting coper pipe bolt in. good Luck

It's a two-person job, but only for the difficult bolt m3j mentioned.

Other than that it's an easy job.
