We now have rear discs

After a satisfying days work my S now proudly sports some ex-Griffith rear discs. guessing they came off an early car as they are the solid, unvented type.

I opted to use a pair of "kit car" caliper brackets that simply bolt on in place of the drum brake back plate, these put the caliper at "3 o'clock" looks like the Griff brackets would have put it at "12 o'clock" but main reason was Griff items use bigger bearings and therefore would require different stub axles ?

genuine TVR handbrake cables are a bit pricey but got a brand new Granada item for very little on Ebay, obviously too long but cut it down and modified one of the ends so I could re-fit it.

Anybody want the original bearing/caliper carriers ? yours for the cost of postage !

Where did you get that handbrake cable end from? I keep hearing that the breakdown services carry them but haven't found anywhere selling them.

Made it !


drilled out the old bit of cable then brazed a long M8 nut (used for joining lengths of threaded rod)to it,also filled in remains of thread. drilled hole correct dia. for cable and drilled and tapped two holes in one of the flats for some grub screws (found at work in some old air conditioner fans).

Hopefully it will hold !
