They're all like that ! although I believe some people had improved it. Mine used the rear screen, reception was terrible, but with the engine noise, and the wind you couldn't really hear it anyway. ( Plus the bonus that my other half couldn't talk to me :-) )

The FM aerial on mine is a wire built into the wiring loom under the dash, hence is useless. I sed to use mp3 cd's etc.
To start with I fitted a powered FM aerial from Halfords, the T shaped ones that you are supposed to stick to the window. I ran it down the centre console, through into the boot and stuck it on the rear panel next to the rear window, above the fuel tank. That improved FM reception about 200% but still wasn't great. I experimented with the idea of the normal telescopic aerial poked up inside the rear quarter or behind the rear seats but it wasn't as good,
I then picked up a dab unit for my JVC head, plugged that in and ran a JVC HAL1 aerial (similar to the windscreen T) under the front dash. Again worked OK, but not perfect. I bought the external JVC Hal4 aerial but it took me about 18 months to fit this as I didn't want to ruin the lines of the car with external appendages. This aerial has a block mount to stick inside the window, then another to stick outside that the aerial screws into (has up/down angle adjust). I put this midway at the top of the rear window with the wiring going around the rear window trim, behind the rear seats and again down the console to the dab unit. This works brilliantly and I've rarely got the radio off.
