The proprietor of my local corner shop, knowing my predilection for unusual spirits (and especially those in fancy bottles), accosted me this evening and thrust a bottle into my sweaty palms.

"You buy this, I can't sell it."

"How much?"

"How much you think? Ten pounds?"

"Sold."

Googled the stuff and it goes for about £18 a bottle, so got a bit of a bargain there. Smells of Pernod, but tastes like something else. Quite pleasant.

Cheers.

I absolutely love Kummel. I haven't had any for quite a while. Reminds me of baby gripe water - with a kick. Very good for the digestion.lick

It's nice. Flavoured with caraway seeds, iirc.

a.k.a the truth juice

Often found in City watering holes and used after particularly long, boozy lunche.

The stuff you got there is the original and often said "best" manufacturer.

I don't know about that, but I've got a bloody thick head this morning.

Kummel is very popular in many of the more traditional East Lothian golf clubs.
The most popular varient is a "Jimmel" consisting of one measure of Kummel and one of Gin, served with plenty of ice.
Dangerous stuff!
