I've tried to search the topic I last asked about Photo Printers but it was so long ago I got bored and thought I'd ask again. At the time, and this must have been nearly 5 years ago, the conclusion was an Epson R360 which has been a faithful servant but I have to say that the printing quality now, particularly in reds is beginning to be less than satisfactory and therefore I am looking to re invest.
So please let me know your opinions on what’s out there. I’ve no budget in mind although a few hundred quid is probably the limit.
Thanks in advance
K

I've never had particularly great results from printers at home. But last year I went to Focus with someone particularly after a printer. I insisted they started on the Epson stand and they took a '700 home. Fantastic results. She gets excellent output time after time

At the time I was really keen on the R2880. It's the first one up the range that has the full four colour blacks and produces stunning monochromes. Well, suffice to say I ummed and ahhed far too long and went home regretting not saving £200 at the show.

Roll on one year and I marched straight into Focus this year and have ordered an R2880. Nothing else appeared to come anywhere near as close again, in fact all the Epson looked to be producing best results. (Probably dependent upon ink and paper choices, of course.) Can't wait to get it delivered and hooked up!

four colour blacks
Ah but for which colour space? Do I have to calibrate each of the coloured blacks to get a true black? spin

if you can pick up a 2nd hand r1800 you will never be disappointed. Still 4 years on overly impressed with its performance

I've always used Epsons as whenever I've looked at buying a new one they always seem to produce the best quality prints, you do need to use the proper inks and good quality papers to get the best results though. I don't know if they still do but you used to be able to order test prints from one of your images on their website.

I too use Epson... but I don't do much photo printing at home any more - on-line is so cheap (compared to the price of inc/paper/printer).
