That is for two cars of course. I believe Stig started last season with a similar inventory.

think you'll find its one trailer for each car, no part or tools swapping between cars.

I suspect you'll find that Stig's 10 engines are bare blocks. I don't know about last year, but I'm fairly sure that was the case the year before. The engines in the Yas Marina transporters are complete short blocks, with full rotating assemblies, ready to drop in the car. That's impressive, to say the least.

I guess it´s not only the sponsorship money, but also the massive TV and media coverage
Drag Racing gets in the USA that funds the Top Teams.

This is in no way comparable to the european teams´ situation.

And being a true NitroHead sure helps spending big bucks on "disposable" engines etc.,
I do not know the sheik (?) who funds all this, but maybe he once was bitten by the Nitro Bug,
and this addiction is very hard to get rid off, especially if you(r Team) is winning.

I would like to know if teams on this level still borrow parts to their competitors
like it is known to happen in European pits, and will try to find out when the YAS Marina Team races in Hockenheim.

I was idly thinking today, drag racing is the only motorsport where you spend loads more dollar to drive/ride your machine for a smaller amount of time.

It may well have gone right over my head but is there anything official about if/when/where they are racing, in Europe, this year?

Yes. When we did the FIA tour in 2004, Smax was on the throttle for a total of 75 seconds over the entire season. That's not a lot of bang for your buck! In fact, it exceeds any other motorsport in the world. Even Formula 1 in the pre budget cut era was struggling to match it.

Oh, entering philosophical regions here.

There once was a driver of a C/E blown alcohol Funny Car who saw the whole of Drag Racing as a surrealistc performance :
Spending lots of money to get as fast as possible from A to B, then slowing down to walking(towing) speed,
preparing the car just to do it all again, with the aim of reducing the time between A and B,
trying to "beat time", a feat which can never really be achieved.
He also was into painting, in fact the rear "window" of his F/C was covered in colored oil, one of his works.

All I can say is : Hooray for all the nutters worldwide who do this, you make my heart beat faster !!!

btt : nothing official yet on the YAS euro tour apart from one line on Eurodragster a while ago,
which -to my knowledge- could be true.....*fingerscrossedforthat*....

If you have looked at the clip on my OP then also have a look at the other videos by the same contributor on You Tube (and weep)...

They worry and we know it is! If you have never been to a drag race meeting you should not criticise which I take your "All for 4 less than 4 seconds of action!" comment to be - seeing is believing although it is a sport you either love or hate with no in between.

Thr trailer is impressive but quite similar to the F1, Le Mans, and even Touring car ones I have seen. An F1 team always has at least 3 trucks {not counting the engine supplier}one of which will have a fully equiped workshop inside complete with lathe, drills etc

Looking at the other stuff the strip at Yas Marina looks to be seperate to the actual F1 track which does mean that the investment in the whole set up must have been pretty massive. The first meeting is next weekend, this will I suspect just be the local hot shoes in jap turbo cars spiced up with the 2 TF cars. This may be a wow the first couple of times but if they are to justify all that money they are going to have to start getting decent fields of Pro cars quite quickly. It will be interesting to watch.

I was sat at Calais a few years ago waiting to board a ferry; the incoming ferry disgorged no less than 6 artics in McClaren livery. I'm sure it included pit trucks, hospitality and a merchandising stall but still a lot of wheels to pay for
