New iPhone - any news?
Discussion
I am not expecting to see anything until much later in the year. What with the whole hullabaloo for the iPad release soon, they will have their hands busy with getting that launched and pushed out to the various countries. Expecting a late March us release for the iPad, followed by an international roll-out in late April through June. So expecting them to announce and push something else in the meantime might be asking too much.
If the rumours are correct, the pre-order volumes for the iPad are more than the iPhone so they will have their hands tied getting this to market. Throw another iPhone in at the same time? Too much too fast I think.
What I recon is that there will be an announcement for an updated iPhone OS to support things like multi-tasking and updated Google apps (like maps etc). Maybe some other nice-to-haves, but nothing major. The big development push will be content for the iPad (and porting of apps from the iPhone to it). So maybe early announcement of a new iPhone in summer with a release at the end of the year (say Oct for US and then before Chrimbo for the rest of the world).

Apparently OS 4.0 is on its way.. Multi Tasking etc?
I can't really think of anything that I'd need to Multi Task though..
I would have thought that Apple were gunning for 2010 to be the year of the I-Pad and they're not going to spoil that party too early by releasing a new phone. Plus the fact the 3G/3GS is still selling like a proverbiable hotcake. Why change a formula thats still selling before you have to?
I'd imagine I-Phone 4.0 would be next Januarys big thing although I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Because for people like me, the iPhone is old and getting boring, with a few handsets out that could be classed as betterso unless there is a new one by July, Apple wont be getting my upgrade money!

So for someone like me that has a W980i Walkman phone thing where should i be going?
All I want is a phone which will do all that one will! iPhone is the choice of the herd but it is sometimes a wise move to follow them.

All the geeks have I-Phones yes, but a lot of people are tied in for 18-24 months and further more there are plenty more people out there who are still only just getting into the 'Apple thing'. That will change even more so when they are more readily available on PAYG and with people like Tesco. Apple can easily afford to hold up the next phone for a few geeks while they push out the I-Pad and then they can reel you all back in next year with 4.0.
It's just good business.

However, the Nexus One is better than the iPhone

I've heard this said a lot recently, why? Disclaimer: This is not a fan-boi question and I am certainly not one, I'd just like to know why you think so without it turning into handbags at dawn.
It's a great bit of kit, but it's not quite as easy-just-works as the iPhone, it's more of a hacker's toy. I'm impressed though.
