Acceptable behaviour or not

My girlfriend and her mother went into a Mini dealership on sunday. Her mother is already known at the BMW part of the dealership as she bought a car last year, so they were warmly greeted etc.
The GF registers interest in a new Mini and leaves details with the salesman, all perfectly normal, however she then recieves a txt message later that day from the salesman asking her out on a date. She laughed it off and replied saying that she had a boyfriend, but to me it is completely unreasonable and unprofessional behaviour.
Your thoughts welcome.

Yep. It is unprofessional. To answer most of you... Yes she is a very good looking girl. No she wasn't flirting, although he probably was.
I'm not bothered with her being chatted up and asked out in situations where it is to be expected (pubs/clubs etc) but it's the fact he used her number for an unprofessional reason that I don't agree with.
