I have a MY2000 E46 328 saloon that has done about 118500 miles. Not surprisingly the suspension is a bit soft, in fact I have to go over sleeping policemen quite slowly to avoid grounding. On the move the suspension is fine and none of the dampers are weeping or anything. Just passed MOT with a little play in one wishbone as an advisory (I know all about the wishbone weakness, but as far as I know these are originals)

Without replacing the whole suspension, bushes etc. what can be done to refresh please?

Ta in advance - esp to those replying from experience of a similar thing before and after

My 328 goes over speedhumps, even nasty ones, quite easily and it has done 130k - I *think* it had new dampers all around about 30k ago, so that might be first port of call - seems odd if it's grounding out - are the springs OK?

I think dampers/springs are an easy DIY on the rear (do top mounts too) but you'll need spring compressors for the front.

The main trouble I have is the steering, which I think is a worn rack (squirmy steering). E46s end up with wearing balljoints, bearings, tie rods etc at this sort of mileage

Thanks a lot John! I imagine my springs are fine as the car's been recently MOTd. Shocks - dunno. Probably worth investigating new ones - GSF or Euro Car Parts presumably. Tie rods etc - again I have no idea of the state of them, but will check out shock absorber prices. Any idea how much installation should cost?
