had to reset iphone and lost everything....need app help!
Discussion
Arg! I decided to let a bunch of my apps do their upgrades on my iphone 2G 8GB.
It was jailbroken and unlocked and had some nice little apps and features.
well, during the upgrade the damn thing did its best attempt at bricking itself. Fortunately i got it back setting it to DFU mode and restoring to the latest firmware, which i then unlocked with a sn0wbreeze custom firmware.
Great! I got my iphone back. However, its been rolled back to basically factory settings - i lost everything on it apart from photos and the numbers i had synced.
I would just go on cydia and get apps back...but for the life of my i cant remember how to get them or what most were called.
I know i had Bosspaper, which was great for backgrounds. but i cant remember how to point Cydia towards Big Bosses repository. To be honest i preferred it to the resource-hogging Winterboard.
I also had a copy-paste app which was good (or was this fixed in OS 3.x?)
Finally, i had a really cool "advanced features" menu which was accessed by swiping across the top of the screen. It let you kill programs, edit which programs had icons on the springboard page etc.
PH help would be much needed!

Bosspaper is on Cydia, but you could also install and use Rock Your Phone App.
As for the copy & paste function - that's Apple's, and introduced in 3.0
Regarding the swipey top bar thingy, that'd be SBSettings
You failed because you let Cydia Reboot - I've had the same issue of looping reboot by "trusting" it, but for some time now, I've either used the power button or the Reboot function of SBSettings.
Cydia's useful to a degree, but it is a slow, POS compared to the no-longer-maintained Icy, and now the RYP.

PJ S you are a lifesaver, I've followed your advice and got back nearly everything. Just the "official" apps to get back off itunes now...hope that works!
Any idea how to remove Cydia then if it can cause problems? I dont particularly use it so can i just uninstall / delete it? And where do i find Rock Your Phone?

Cydia is unfortunately a necessary evil, but if Google RYP, you'll find details on how to add it's repository which you access through Cydia.
Once installed, you can use it to download & install any new stuff, but not everything is available on it at the same time as it is on Cydia.
Bit like movies are on Sky first, before the terrestrial channels can broadcast them.
Respringing with RYP works fine, but as above, I use SBSettings to Reboot when required.
